وَءَامِنُوا۟ بِمَآ أَنزَلْتُ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا مَعَكُمْ وَلَا تَكُونُوٓا۟ أَوَّلَ كَافِرٍۭ بِهِۦ ۖ وَلَا تَشْتَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِى ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا وَإِيَّـٰىَ فَٱتَّقُونِ
“And believe in what I have revealed, verifying that which is with you, and be not the first to deny it, neither take a mean price in exchange for My communications; and Me, Me alone should you fear.”

And believe in what I have revealed confirming that which is with you, and do not be the first to disbelieve in it. The Quran here speaks to those who possessed earlier scripture: the Torah confirmed the coming of the Prophet, and the Quran confirms and completes the message of all previous prophets. notes the weight ofdo not be the first to disbelieve' — those who possessed scripture and knew its prophecies bore a special responsibility not to obstruct others from the truth. The divine revelation is not competitive with what came before it but continuous with it; rejecting the Quran after recognizing its signs is a betrayal of the entire prophetic tradition.
