Tafsir
The counterpart to the promise of guidance is the warning: But those who disbelieve and deny Our signs — those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally. notes the pairing ofdisbelieve(kafaru) withdeny Our signs' (kadhdhabu bi-ayatina) — both are required for this ultimate consequence. The signs of Allah are everywhere: in the Quran, in the natural world, in the human conscience. To disbelieve requires, in some sense, the active suppression of awareness of these signs. The eternal consequence reflects the ultimate gravity of this choice: to permanently orient oneself away from the Source of all good is to permanently experience its absence.
