فَإِن لَّمْ تَفْعَلُوا۟ وَلَن تَفْعَلُوا۟ فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى وَقُودُهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلْحِجَارَةُ ۖ أُعِدَّتْ لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ

“But if you do (it) not and never shall you do (it), then be on your guard against the fire of which men and stones are the fuel; it is prepared for the unbelievers.”

Al-Baqarah 2:24

Tafsir

The consequence of refusing the Qurans challenge is stated with stark clarity: the Fire, whose fuel is people and stones, prepared for the disbelievers. notes that the Fire is not an arbitrary punishment but the natural consequence of a life lived in fundamental contradiction to reality. The person who organizes their entire existence around denying the truth has, in a deep sense, been building their own fire throughout their life — the Fire of the next world is the culmination of choices made in this one. The verse is simultaneously a warning and an invitation: the path away from the Fire is always available through sincere return to truth.
