Tafsir
Then Adam received from his Lord certain words, and He accepted his repentance. This verse is the Qurans first great example of tawbah — return to Allah. Thewords(kalimat) that Allah taught Adam are widely understood by the commentators, including through narrations from the Ahlul Bayt, to be a prayer of acknowledgment and supplication — words of complete humility before the divine majesty. notes that Allah turned to him in forgiveness (taba alayhi) uses the same root as tawbah: Allahs acceptance of repentance is itself a turning toward the servant, a divine mercy that meets the human turning. This mutuality is the heart of the relationship between creator and creation.
