۞ وَٱلْوَٰلِدَٰتُ يُرْضِعْنَ أَوْلَـٰدَهُنَّ حَوْلَيْنِ كَامِلَيْنِ ۖ لِمَنْ أَرَادَ أَن يُتِمَّ ٱلرَّضَاعَةَ ۚ وَعَلَى ٱلْمَوْلُودِ لَهُۥ رِزْقُهُنَّ وَكِسْوَتُهُنَّ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۚ لَا تُكَلَّفُ نَفْسٌ إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا ۚ لَا تُضَآرَّ وَٰلِدَةٌۢ بِوَلَدِهَا وَلَا مَوْلُودٌ لَّهُۥ بِوَلَدِهِۦ ۚ وَعَلَى ٱلْوَارِثِ مِثْلُ ذَٰلِكَ ۗ فَإِنْ أَرَادَا فِصَالًا عَن تَرَاضٍ مِّنْهُمَا وَتَشَاوُرٍ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِمَا ۗ وَإِنْ أَرَدتُّمْ أَن تَسْتَرْضِعُوٓا۟ أَوْلَـٰدَكُمْ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذَا سَلَّمْتُم مَّآ ءَاتَيْتُم بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۗ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ
“And the mothers should suckle their children for two whole years for him who desires to make complete the time of suckling; and their maintenance and their clothing must be-- borne by the father according to usage; no soul shall have imposed upon it a duty but to the extent of its capacity; neither shall a mother be made to suffer harm on account of her child, nor a father on account of his child, and a similar duty (devolves) on the (father's) heir, but if both desire weaning by mutual consent and counsel, there is no blame on them, and if you wish to engage a wet-nurse for your children, there is no blame on you so long as you pay what you promised for according to usage; and be careful of (your duty to) Allah and know that Allah sees what you do.”

اور مائیں اپنی اولاد کو دو برس کامل دودھ پلائیں گی جو رضاعت کو پورا کرنا چاہے گا اس درمیان صاحب اولاد کا فرض ہے کہ ماؤں کی روٹی اور کپڑے کا مناسب طریقہ سے انتظام کرے. کسی شخص کو اس کی وسعت سے زیادہ تکلیف نہیں دی جاسکتی. نہ ماں کو اس کی اولاد کے ذریعہ تکلیف دینے کا حق ہے اور نہ باپ کو اس کی اولاد کے ذریعہ. اور وارث کی بھی ذمہ داری ہے کہ وہ اسی طرح اجرت کا انتظام کرے. پھر اگر دونوں باہمی رضامندی اور مشورہ سے دودھ چھڑانا چاہیں تو کوئی حرج نہیں ہے اور اگر تم اپنی اولاد کے لئے دودھ پلانے والی تلاش کرنا چاہو تو اس میں بھی کوئی حرج نہیں ہے بشرطیکہ متعارف طریقہ کی اجرت ادا کردو اور اللہ سے ڈرو اور یہ سمجھو کہ وہ تمہارے اعمال کو خوب دیکھ رہا ہے

و مادران بایستی دو سال کامل فرزندان خود را شیر دهند، البته آن کسی که خواهد فرزند را شیر تمام دهد؛ و به عهده صاحب فرزند است (یعنی پدر) که خوراک و لباس مادر را به حد متعارف بدهد، هیچ کس را تکلیف جز به اندازه طاقت نکنند، نه مادر باید در نگهبانی فرزند به زحمت و زیان افتد و نه پدر بیش از حدّ متعارف برای کودک متضرر شود. و اگر کودک را پدر نبود وارث باید در نگهداری او به حد متعارف قیام کند. و اگر پدر و مادر به رضایت و مصلحت دید یکدیگر بخواهند فرزند را از شیر بگیرند هر دو را رواست، و اگر خواهید که برای فرزندان دایه بگیرید آن هم روا باشد در صورتی که دایه را حقوقی به متعارف بدهید. و از خدا پروا کنید و بدانید که خداوند به کردار شما بیناست.

Mothers will breast feed their babies for two years if the fathers want them to complete this term. The father has to pay them reasonable expenses. No soul is responsible for what is beyond its ability. None of the parents should suffer any loss from the other because of the baby. The heirs are responsible to look after the children of a deceased. It is no sin for the parents to have a mutual agreement about weaning the baby. There is no sin in hiring a woman to breast feed your children for a reasonable payment. Have fear of God and know that God is well aware of what you do.
