يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ شَهَـٰدَةُ بَيْنِكُمْ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتُ حِينَ ٱلْوَصِيَّةِ ٱثْنَانِ ذَوَا عَدْلٍ مِّنكُمْ أَوْ ءَاخَرَانِ مِنْ غَيْرِكُمْ إِنْ أَنتُمْ ضَرَبْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَأَصَـٰبَتْكُم مُّصِيبَةُ ٱلْمَوْتِ ۚ تَحْبِسُونَهُمَا مِنۢ بَعْدِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ فَيُقْسِمَانِ بِٱللَّهِ إِنِ ٱرْتَبْتُمْ لَا نَشْتَرِى بِهِۦ ثَمَنًا وَلَوْ كَانَ ذَا قُرْبَىٰ ۙ وَلَا نَكْتُمُ شَهَـٰدَةَ ٱللَّهِ إِنَّآ إِذًا لَّمِنَ ٱلْـَٔاثِمِينَ
“O you who believe! call to witness between you when death draws nigh to one of you, at the time of making the will, two just persons from among you, or two others from among others than you, if you are travelling in the land and the calamity of death befalls you; the two (witnesses) you should detain after the prayer; then if you doubt (them), they shall both swear by Allah, (saying): We will not take for it a price, though there be a relative, and we will not hide the testimony of Allah for then certainly we should be among the sinners.”

ای اهل ایمان، چون یکی از شما را هنگام مرگ فرا رسید، برای وصیّت خود دو شاهد عادل را گواه گیرید که از خودتان باشند، یا دو تن دیگر از غیر خودتان (از غیر مسلمانان) گواه گیرید اگر در سفر به شما مصیبت مرگ رسد (و شاهد خودی نیابید)؛ آن دو شاهد را نگاه دارید اگر از آنها بدگمانید، تا بعد از نماز سوگند خورند که ما برای شهادت خود هرگز بهایی نمیخواهیم هر چند شهادت بر خویشانمان باشد و گواهی خود را که به امر خداست کتمان نخواهیم کرد، که اگر کتمان شهادت کنیم البته از گنهکاران خواهیم بود.

Believers, when death approaches any one of you, let two just men from your own people (Muslims) or any two other men (People of the Book) if death befalls you on a journey, bear witness to the bequest. If you have any doubts as to their honesty, detain them and let them take an oath after the prayer, each one of them saying, "I swear by God that my testimony is true. I am not selling the Truth for a paltry price even though the beneficiary would be one of my relatives. I do not hide the testimony which is the right of God, for then I would be one of the sinners."

ایمان والو جب تم میں سے کسی کی موت سامنے آجائے تو گواہی کا خیال رکھنا کہ وصیت کے وقت دو عادل گواہ تم میں سے ہوں یا پھر تمہارے غیر میں سے ہوں اگر تم سفر کی حالت میں ہو اور وہیں موت کی مصیبت نازل ہوجائے ان دونوں کو نماز کے بعد روک کر رکھو پھر اگر تمہیں شک ہو تو یہ خدا کی قسم کھائیں کہ ہم اس گواہی سے کسی طرح کا فائدہ نہیں چاہتے ہیں چاہے قرابتدار ہی کا معاملہ کیوں نہ ہو اور نہ خدائی شہادت کو چھپاتے ہیں کہ اس طرح ہم یقینا گناہگاروں میں شمار ہوجائیں گے
