وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِۦ يَـٰقَوْمِ إِنَّكُمْ ظَلَمْتُمْ أَنفُسَكُم بِٱتِّخَاذِكُمُ ٱلْعِجْلَ فَتُوبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ بَارِئِكُمْ فَٱقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ عِندَ بَارِئِكُمْ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلتَّوَّابُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
“And when Musa said to his people: O my people! you have surely been unjust to yourselves by taking the calf (for a god), therefore turn to your Creator (penitently), so kill your people, that is best for you with your Creator: so He turned to you (mercifully), for surely He is the Oft-returning (to mercy), the Merciful.”

اور وہ وقت بھی یاد کرو جب موسٰی علیھ السّلام نے اپنی قوم سے کہا کہ تم نے گو سالہ بنا کر اپنے اوپر ظلم کیا ہے. اب تم خالق کی بارگاہ میں توبہ کرو اور اپنے نفسوں کو قتل کر ڈالو کہ یہی تمہارے حق میں خیر ہے. پھر خدا نے تمہاری توبہ قبول کرلی کہ وہ بڑا توبہ قبول کرنے والا مہربان ہے

و (یاد کنید) وقتی که موسی به قوم خود گفت: ای قوم، شما به نفس خود ستم کردید که (به جهالت) گوساله پرست شدید، اکنون به سوی آفریدگارتان باز گردید و (به کیفر جهالت خود) به کشتن یکدیگر تیغ برکشید، این برای شما در پیشگاه آفریدگارتان بهترین (کفّاره عمل) است. آن گاه از شما در گذشت که او بسیار توبهپذیر و مهربان است.

Moses said to his people, "My people, you have done wrong to yourselves by worshipping the calf. Seek pardon from your Lord and slay yourselves." He told them that it would be best for them in the sight of their Lord, Who would forgive them, for He is All-forgiving and All-merciful.
