لِلْفُقَرَآءِ ٱلَّذِينَ أُحْصِرُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ ضَرْبًا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يَحْسَبُهُمُ ٱلْجَاهِلُ أَغْنِيَآءَ مِنَ ٱلتَّعَفُّفِ تَعْرِفُهُم بِسِيمَـٰهُمْ لَا يَسْـَٔلُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا ۗ وَمَا تُنفِقُوا۟ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِهِۦ عَلِيمٌ
“(Alms are) for the poor who are confined in the way of Allah-- they cannot go about in the land; the ignorant man thinks them to be rich on account of (their) abstaining (from begging); you can recognise them by their mark; they do not beg from men importunately; and whatever good thing you spend, surely Allah knows it.”

یہ صدقہ ان فقرائ کے لئے ہے جو راسِ خدا میں گرفتار ہوگئے ہیں اور کسی طرف جانے کے قابل بھی نہیں ہیں ناواقف افراد انہیں ان کی حیا و عفت کی بنا پر مالدار سمجھتے ہیں حالانکہ تم آثار سے ان کی غربت کا اندازہ کرسکتے ہو اگرچہ یہ لوگوں سے چمٹ کر سوال نہیں کرتے ہیںاور تم لوگ جو کچھ بھی انفاق کرو گے خدا اسے خوب جانتا ہے

صدقات مخصوص فقیرانی است که در راه خدا بازمانده و ناتوان شدهاند و توانایی آنکه در زمین بگردند (و کاری پیش گیرند) ندارند و از فرط عفاف چنانند که هر کس از حال آنها آگاه نباشد پندارد غنی و بینیازند، به (فقر) آنها از سیمایشان پی میبری، هرگز چیزی از کسی درخواست نکنند. و هر مالی انفاق کنید خدا به آن آگاه است.

(If the recipients of charity are) the poor whose poverty, because of their striving for the cause of God, has become an obstacle for them, and who do not have the ability to travel in the land, they seem rich compared to the ignorant, because of their modest behavior. You would know them by their faces. They would never earnestly ask people for help. God knows well whatever wealth you spend for the cause of God.
