وَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِيمَا عَرَّضْتُم بِهِۦ مِنْ خِطْبَةِ ٱلنِّسَآءِ أَوْ أَكْنَنتُمْ فِىٓ أَنفُسِكُمْ ۚ عَلِمَ ٱللَّهُ أَنَّكُمْ سَتَذْكُرُونَهُنَّ وَلَـٰكِن لَّا تُوَاعِدُوهُنَّ سِرًّا إِلَّآ أَن تَقُولُوا۟ قَوْلًا مَّعْرُوفًا ۚ وَلَا تَعْزِمُوا۟ عُقْدَةَ ٱلنِّكَاحِ حَتَّىٰ يَبْلُغَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبُ أَجَلَهُۥ ۚ وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِىٓ أَنفُسِكُمْ فَٱحْذَرُوهُ ۚ وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ حَلِيمٌ
“And there is no blame on you respecting that which you speak indirectly in the asking of (such) women in marriage or keep (the proposal) concealed within your minds; Allah knows that you will mention them, but do not give them a promise in secret unless you speak in a lawful manner, and do not confirm the marriage tie until the writing is fulfilled, and know that Allah knows what is in your minds, therefore beware of Him, and know that Allah is Forgiving, Forbearing.”
Al-Baqarah 2:235

تمہارے لئے نکاح کے پیغام کی پیشکش یا دل ہی دل میں پوشیدہ ارادہ میں کوئی حرج نہیں ہے. خدا کو معلوم ہے کہ تم بعد میں ان سے تذکرہ کرو گے لیکن فی الحال خفیہ وعدہ بھی نہ لو صرف کوئی نیک بات کہہ دو تو کوئی حرج نہیں ہے اور جب تک مقررہ مدّت پوری نہ ہوجائے عقد نکاح کا ارادہ نہ کرنا یہ یاد رکھو کہ خدا تمہارے دل کی باتیں خوب جانتا ہے لہذا اس سے ڈرتے رہو اور یہ جان لو کہ وہ غفور بھی ہے اور حلیم واِردبار بھی

و باکی بر شما نیست که به فکر خواستگاری آن زنان برآیید یا نیّت ازدواج را در دل داشته بدون اظهار، تنها خدا داند که از این پس از دل به زبان خواهید آورد، ولیکن (در عدّه) با آنها پنهانی قرار و پیمانی نگذارید مگر آنکه سخنی به میزان شرع گویید، ولی عزم عقد و ازدواج مکنید تا زمان عدّه آنها منقضی شود، و بدانید که خداوند از نیّات درونی شما آگاه است، پس از او بترسید و بدانید که خدا بسیار آمرزنده و بردبار است.

It is not a sin if you make an indirect marriage proposal or have such an intention in your hearts. God knows that you will cherish their memories in your hearts. Do not have secret dates unless you behave lawfully. Do not decide for a marriage before the appointed time is over. Know that God knows what is in your hearts. Have fear of Him and know that He is All-forgiving and All-merciful.
